Scouts and Parents Learned a lot at Safe Swim Course

Thanks to Officer Kris of the Garden Grove Community Department for taking the time to teach our scouts and parents some life saving skills and how to rescue someone from water without jumping in.

Here are some facts you may have not known.

• A person can drown in the amount of water a regular kitchen sponge can hold.
• A person can drown in a matter of seconds.
• Ocean water can cause dry drowning.
• Even Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer Greg Luganis has drowned 8 times, and been rescued.
• If an Olympic athlete can drown so can anyone else.
• Always swim with a buddy, even Olympians.
